Answer: YES!!!! Because of the wonderful internet, there are lots of resources available from practice test to videos of each concept. - I don't have a calculator. What do I do?
Answer: We will be using calculators in this classroom. I do have a set of TI-30s, but I do encourage you to purchase your own as I think that it is a wise investment for future math classes. Before you purchase any calculator, please shop around. August and September are GREAT times to find deals on calculators. (The links below show a picture of each calculator which were taken from the TI Website .)
Math 7 students will not need anything higher than a scientific calculator (such as the TI-30 or TI-34 ) for my class, but if you want to getting a graphing calculator you'll be able to use it later. If you're interested in purchasing a graphing calculator for high school, I recommend a TI-83 Plus , TI-84 or TI-Nspire (NOT the TI-Nspire CAS ). All of these calculators are allowed on the CRTs, ACTs, UBSCTs, and many other tests.
If you don't need the UPC from your new calculator for a rebate or other reason, please bring it to Mrs. Call. As a school we are able to get a discount on the purchase of additional technology for each UPC we have.
What if you don't want to purchase a calculator? Well, most cell phones have basic calculator functions--but cell phones CAN NOT be used in class!!! If you don't currently have a cell phone, there are online calculators available such as calculator.com which also have graphing capabilities. - I need to make a project look Cool. Can I use ANYTHING for this project?
Answer: When using information from someone that is NOT YOU, please BE AWARE OF COPYRIGHT!!! Giving credit for using someone else's stuff is not only nice...it's the LAW!
